I'm designing a logo for myself (finally). I'd like some thoughts on using this monogram of my initials for it. I like simplicity, I love type and using it in interesting ways, and I feel the lowercase give a good relaxed feeling. Serfis seem overly formal for me. However, the high contrast give it some edge. Those are my reasons, feel free to disagree, any kind of feedback helps.

Hi,
Good job. I like simple, not complicated ideas as your logo. It is immediatelly clear,
But you are girl... ups, it means: wooman. So, I think kind of letters in your logo is to heavy.Try to use more soft, light fonts. for example: penguin, ottava, zapf humnst... I hope you understand what I mean. Good luck.

Yes i agree with Kordian, and maybe what if you introduce a hint of color somewhere in one of the letters? Not sure.

To start, this isn't from a font, I built it from scratch in Illustrator, so I can pretty much do whatever I want with it. ^^ I'll try it at some lower weights first chance I get. I did try some color (In GIMP, so it's not clean, but consider these sketches). Tell me what you think about placement and what colors might look nice.

OK, great. This is your own typography. I think, any color is good, but it is a condition - the shade can not be too clear. The shade of red in yours first is good because is close to black.
I built my logo from leters of my name, and from my own self-designed fonts. The design was simple with vector graphics. I used CorelDRW.

It looks great! I've never used CorelDrw. Perhaps I should try it some day. I'm having trouble keeping up with Illustrator, I'm still on CS2. lol

I think I've got a final design. I'll try to remember to post it up next chance I get, but it's simply that second one from up above without the shapes. ^^

Thanks for the feedback, guys.

Hi. To pick up on the comments already made. Unless gender is a statement you need to make, I wouldn't try to include a feminine bias in your design. Your first shape without any coloured sections holds together as a balanced shape. The 'remixes' and addition of a perimeter line don't do anything for me. In fact the latter moves it towards a clumsy and bulkier shape.
In commercial terms, consideration needs to be given to methods of reproduction. For example, will the design be embroidered on corporate clothing or cut vinyl for vehicle livery etc., etc.?
Different colourways could be explored, but I thing you've got a sweet and versatile shape shape right there and see no reason to overcook it.
All in my very humble opinion, of course.
Pete
