Is it better to go to college if you're a self taught artist, or does College cramp your creatiity?

I'm trying to decide if school is essential for me to become a better artist or should i keep doing what I'm doing and become more comfortable with the my skills.  I will attach one of my drawings.

I currently am going to school for Fine Art. I took a long break from art since life just happens sometimes! I found that even though I'm self teaching still at home, the ability to have someone live coaching to refine numerous skills is a plus. The way I look at it, as a paying student I deserve to get the most out of my education and that means getting the most out of my teachers. Its nice just to be able to take other work in and get honest feedback on how to get better. Hope that helps!

Yes, I do agree wih you. Right now im learning a lot about working with others and working for/with clients. It's helpful. I know i cant always do what i want to do all the time.

Hey Crystal. I think that kind of criticism gets you ready for the real world. Not everyone will like the art you do, but you will have to learn how to work around that and give them what they like. So what Im saying is that you dont have to loose your style of art, but just learn how to set the artist ego back a little to give the client what they want. It sucks sometimes, but thats what you do sometimes.

Best,

I never took any art classes. I don't even know any artists. My art is just something I must do.
